adverse outcomes

Naturally all surgical procedures carry with them a degree of risk of adverse outcomes and this has to be balanced against the probable benefits of any procedure.

Adverse outcomes can occur despite the procedure being undertaken with all appropriate technical skill and expertise.

Scarring is inevitable with any surgical procedure.  Scars may be tender or numb or unsightly.  Scarring is usually not considered an adverse otutcome (even if tender or unsightly) but a natural consequence of having a surgical procedure.  We try to limit the length of any scar but it also vital that we have enough of an opening to see what we ned to during the procedure.

Listed on this page are links to information about adverse outcomes for common procedures I undertake.  This information is not an exhaustive list of all the possible advese outcomes but is intended to inform you of the more common or significant risks that are asscoaited with each procedure.

Please don't hesitate to clarify any of these issues with me pior to your procedure.
